Abs Workout Exercise Part 1

Working out your abs will aid your lower back, as well as your posture, with a six-pack is the only potential side effect.
These exercises will target the abs, as well as the obliques. If a six-pack is your goal, following these exercises, as well as the aerobic exercises, the guidelines in the nutrition section, and the mental excercises section will definitely put them within your reach. This is an extensive abs program, but the stronger your abs are, the stronger your back muscles will be.
The Program
Ab Boot Camp consists of three cycles of a no-rest circuit routine comprised of six consecutive exercises that will hit every part of your waistline. Each complete circuit is followed by a two- to three- minute active rest period. You then repeat the cycle two more times. The whole routine should take about 15 minutes per cycle. If you are not used to high- intensity ab training, you may find that you need to start the program with two cycles the first week before advancing to three. Although most of the exercises can be performed effectively on the floor or on a flat bench, the use of a decline bench will increase the workout load on your abs.
mm86bootcamp03 Abs Workout Exercise Part 1Lower ab crunch- 15 reps
This is a good starter exercise focusing on the lower abdominals
Starting positon:
Lie on the floor, or a flat or decline bench, with your knees bent to a 45 degree angle.
mm86bootcamp04 Abs Workout Exercise Part 1The Excercise
Bring your knees toward your chest in a slow and controlled manner by contracting the lower abdominals. Return slowly to the starting position. Focus on pulling with the lower abs. Limit your range of movement to minimize hip flexor involvement.
mm86bootcamp05 Abs Workout Exercise Part 1Leg Raise/Hip Up- 15 reps
This combination exercise targets the lower abs.
Starting Position
Lie on the floor, or a flat or decline bench, with your legs straight and hanging slightly over the end. Use your hips to lift your legs until your toes are right above your navel. Keep your legs straight as you lift them. At this point your legs should be perpendicular to your body (forming a 45 degree angle).
The Exercise
Raise your hips off the bench three to five inches, keeping your legs perpendicular to your body. The hips should be lifted by pushing up with the lower abs. Your feet should move straight up as you lift.
mm86bootcamp08 Abs Workout Exercise Part 1Side Crunch- 15 reps each side
This is the most effective exercise I know to work the inercostals (the muscles between your ribs) and the oblique muscles (the muscles along the sides of your abdomen).
Starting position
Lie on the floor or a flat or decline bench on your side with your knees bent and your arms holding onto either the end of the bench or something behind you.
The Exercise
Slowly bring your knees toward your chest. Switch to the other side and repeat. Keep the movement short to remove the hip flexors from the motion.

Tall, short - or got a small head? Here's what your physique reveals about your health

We all know it's important to keep an eye on your waistline because of the risk of diabetes and heart disease, but it's not the only measurement that matters.

From your height to your foot size, body dimensions can indicate a wealth of information about your risk of conditions, from cancer through to dementia and heart disease.

Researchers at Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine in Korea found that the taller you are, the higher your risk of developing cancer. Here, ROGER DOBSON examines what the latest research has found about your vital statistics.

IF YOU'RE TALL

Breast cancer

Women over 5ft 9in may be more likely to develop breast cancer and to die from it.

Two American studies found that tall women have an increased risk. One possible explanation is that hormones that affect women's height may also cause an increase in the amount of milk duct tissue in the breast.

Most breast tumours arise from this tissue and the more ducts, the greater the susceptibility to breast cancer.

Prostate cancer

Men over 6ft have an increased risk of prostate cancer.

In the study at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, in the U.S., 22,000 men were monitored for more than 12 years. Men over 6ft tall had a 59 per cent increased risk compared to men under 5ft 7in. A study at Bristol University showed that every four inches of extra height was associated with a 6 per cent increased risk.

One theory is that growth factors are involved. Taller men tend to have higher levels of insulin-like growth factor-I or IGF-1, and higher levels have been linked to an increased risk of prostate cancer.

Pancreatic cancer

Men over 6ft 1in, and women over 5ft 6in have an 81 per cent increased risk.

Each additional inch in height was found to increase the risk of pancreatic cancer by between 6 and 10 per cent, said researchers at the U.S. National Cancer Institute. According to a report from Washington University, it might be related to the fact that the same hormones and other factors that make people grow might also increase the chance of abnormal cell growth.

IF YOU HAVE BIG FEET

Breast cancer

Women with bigger feet (the average UK shoe size is a five), trunk and shoulder breadth in childhood had a greater risk of breast cancer, according to a study at Bristol University. An increased foot size might be linked to greater calorie intake during childhood, which has been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer.

IF YOU'RE SHORT

Heart attack

Short men (under 5ft 7in) are much more likely to suffer heart attacks than men over 6ft 1in, according to a Harvard University report. The taller men were 35 per cent less likely to suffer a heart attack. Every inch of additional height also reduced the risk by 2 to 3 per cent.

Another American study found that short men had a 60 per cent greater risk of a heart attack than men 6ft 1in or taller. One theory is that shorter people might have correspondingly smaller arteries that are more vulnerable to the blocking effects from fatty deposits that can trigger heart attacks.

Stomach cancer

Shorter people are more likely to develop this disease, possibly because the cancer is linked to infection with Helicobacter pylori, the bacteria also associated with stomach ulcers. It's thought that having the bacteria in childhood might lead to a slowing in growth, say researchers at Bristol University.

High blood pressure

Shorter height and leg length are associated with higher blood pressure in men and women. A British study followed 3,000 people since birth; the greater the leg length, the lower the risk of high blood pressure.

Poor nutrition in childhood might be to blame, because smaller arteries might be more prone to high blood pressure. 'This backs up the theory that people with restricted growth in the first years of life might be more susceptible to the effects of ageing on the arteries,' say researchers at University College London.

IF YOU HAVE A SMALL HEAD

Dementia

Smaller head size and shorter legs and arms might be linked to an increased risk.

In a study of elderly women, a fifth of those with a large head size (circumference of 57-58 centimetres) had signs of dementia, compared to 70 per cent of those with the smallest heads (51-52 centimetres). Meanwhile, a German study of men and women found that head circumference below average (the average head size for a man is 58cm and a woman 55cm) was significantly associated with dementia.

One theory is that bigger heads might have a greater number of nerve cells within the brain, making them less vulnerable to degeneration - the cerebral reserve capacity hypothesis.

A link between shorter leg and arm length and higher risk of dementia has also been found by researchers at Chonnam National University Medical School, Korea. One theory is that shorter limbs might be a visible sign of poor nutrition in early life, which also impacted on the development of the brain.

IF YOU HAVE LONG LEGS

Diabetes

People with longer legs are less likely to develop Type 2 diabetes, while those with short legs have a 20 per cent increased risk of the disease. Research at Bristol University, based on 4,200 men and women, showed that each 4.3cm increase of leg length resulted in a 19 per cent reduced risk of diabetes.

Leg length is an indicator of early childhood environmental circumstances, in particular of infant nutrition. Poor nutrition has also been linked to diabetes.

IF YOU HAVE LONG FINGERS

Autism and ADHD, mental illness/depression

A range of disorders has been linked to the length of fingers, and in particular the ratio between index and ring fingers. The ratio is thought to be a marker of what was happening hormonally in the womb when the foetus developed.

It's thought a relatively long ring finger is a sign that the foetus was exposed to higher levels of the male hormone testosterone, while a relatively long index finger is a marker of the female hormone, oestrogen.

Conditions associated with a long ring finger compared to the index include autism and ADHD. Those associated with a longer index include depression.

Males, who are more likely to develop autism and ADHD, tend to have a longer ring finger relative to their index finger.

Exposure to certain hormones might increase or reduce the risk of certain conditions and traits.

'It has been suggested that autism may arise as the result of exposure to high concentrations of prenatal testosterone,' say researchers at Liverpool University.

How important is height for a female in a management career?

I am a petite, 5'3 100 pd. female. I've read articles that height is important if you are in high level management positions because people take you more seriously. I am considering entering a career in marketing, public relations, sales or business management. Am I going to have a hard time getting respect and authority if I am short and petite? Is height more important for men in management positions? As long as I'm intelligent and assertive, should my height matter? Can short, petite women still be successful in these types of careers?

From lisa

Best Answer

A definite No. It is perceived as such. Knowledge and experience in the field of your endeavor, personality, effective public speaking and people that you surround yourself with of like mind is key. Oh yes, do dress for success.

Do not accept the perception of Height. If you do accept it,what will you use as an excuse when you take your first (if any) failure.

my friend was 5'4. She was excellent at management. made a high 5 figure income and was attributed to what I stated above. She at first had that height perception, but with each success and my encouragement she gained confidence, with that came advancements, and thousands of friends and colleges etc.

Growing Tall Tips and video

Having always been the small guy, I know how difficult it can make one's life. Always having to look up at people when talking, it used to make me feel so uncomfortable when having conversations. After years of struggling to accept my height at a messily five foot six inches, I decided it was time to take action could I learn how to get tall? It was the summer of 08 when I embarked on my journey to get tall. I started with little hope not knowing if it was possible to increase my height, I wanted to stay away for pills & medications right from the start as 99% of them do not work.

After a few weeks of looking round the web and reading hundreds of web pages, I came to the conclusion the best way to get taller would be to use stretching exercises and proper nutrition. I know it sounds strange ''stretching exercises'' but many people have gained inches in height just by implementing a few simple techniques. My main problem was my posture, like many people who work at desks or are sat in chairs for long periods of time. My back was always slumped, I would never sit or stand up straight this made me appear even smaller. I gained 1'' in height just from correcting my posture, and you can to.

As I slowly started to implement all the stretching exercises I had studied, Week By week I was gaining height. Each week I would measure my height and each time it gave me more of an incentive to carry on, because I was seeing results. The nutrition side of things are simple don't eat Junk it is poison , when we are full of it our bodies cannot function the way they should do, As long as you eat well and get plenty of fruit and Vegetables' you are doing Right.

By the end of the summer I had gained almost three inches in height at 22 years old, it can be done and here are my top tips.

1# Posture

Using correct posture can be an instant way to increase your height, Make sure you sit up straight with your shoulders back. It can be quite hard to implement at first, if you have been used to slouching . Try to remind yourself every time you find yourself slouching, It can and will work wonders for you.

2# sleep

When sleeping at night always try to sleep on your back, this keeps your spine straight and works wonders for your posture. If you want to improve it even more Try to find a good pillow, wrong pillows bend your neck into an unnatural position as you sleep and over time can even cause cervical disc protrusion!

3# Cycling

Cycling is a fantastic way to lengthen your legs, All you have to do is raise the bicycle seat three to four inches higher than normal. It may be difficult at first, riding your bike in this manner but you soon adapt to it. I would suggest only doing this exercise for twenty 20 minutes at a time, to avoid unnecessary strain.

4# Swimming

Swimming is an excellent growth stimulating activity, When done in the right way . A few lengths up and down your local pool each week, using the breast stroke technique can dramatically improve your height. The breast stroke utilities your full body length meaning every time you complete a stroke your body is at its maximum length.

5# Attitude

As I said before I started off with little hope, But as soon as I saw results the fire was lit. It had hit me I can grow taller and will gain height, I stuck at it and it paid off. The best piece of advice I can give you is don't expect anything to happen overnight, it takes time and commitment, but is very achievable.

I wish you the best of luck

Is It Possible To Grow Taller Even After Puberty?

Hi Guys,

One of the main questions people have about growing taller is
whether it's possible to grow taller even after puberty?

Yes, it is possible.

We have many cases of customers in their late 20's and 30's and
even beyond who have reported positive results from our system
and have grown several inches taller.

An average person, no matter what height he or she is, has the
potential to be 2 - 4 inches taller, and often - even more!

There are parts of the body such as the spinal discs that are
never fused after puberty and can be safely stretched and
expanded from the exercises in the "Grow Taller 4 Idiots" system.

The Spinal column in your upper body contributes significantly
to your height because it accounts for 35% of your total height.

Your spinal column consists of 33 separate bone segments known as
vertebrae held together by ligaments (tough and fibrous tissue).

Out of these 33 vertebrae, only the lowest 9 are fused into two
immovable bones. All of the other 24 vertebrae are permanently
movable and can NEVER be fused.

One important component of the spine is the cartilaginous pads
called intervertebral discs.

These discs are located between each of these 33 vertebrae.
They are pads of soft tissue that lie between the vertebrae. Its
main function is to act as shock absorbers and provide separation
between each vertebra.

On average, your total discs account for one-quarter the length
of your vertebral column - 4.5 to 6 inches for most people.
The thicker those discs, the longer your spinal column is and the
taller you become.

Regular stretching and inversion can help increase your height
by expanding the discs and lengthening your spine.

The stretching exercises in the "Grow Taller 4 Idiots" system are
designed to move the spine through its full range of motion so
that blood circulation and fluid content of the discs are
increased.

Without regular exercise, the discs may lose its elasticity and
become rigid, and hence will lead to height loss.

Therefore, even if you have passed your puberty, you can still
grow taller permanently by following the website, www.heightblog.com

Ideal body weight for kids

Kids are getting heavier these days and that is not good news for their health, especially as they grown-up.

Kids who are overweight are more possible to grow diabetes or heart sickness in later life and are more expected being obese as adults. But healthiness is not the only issue. Overweight kids could also be affected by teasing or bullying, low self-esteem, embarrassment when playing games or sports and difficulty in being active.
Ads by Google

Even if your kid is not overweight or obese, it is important that they consume healthily and are physically active. The tips outlined on this article are relevant to all kids, in all weight ranges.

As children are still growing, and as boys and girls grow in a different way, a kid's sex and age must be taken into account while working out if they are in a healthy weight range. Therefore adult height and weight categories cannot be used for kids.

To get ideal weight for a kid can be complicated sometimes. Adults use the Body Mass Index (BMI) to measure their ideal weight. But for kids, this is not the case. Their ideal weight is calculated on length for age and weight for age percentile charts.

Those children weighing over the 95th percentile range are considered overweight. And for those above the 85th percentile range, they are considered at risk of being overweight.

Although you can calculate a kid's BMI using an online BMI calculator or look it up on a BMI chart, you could also calculate it yourself with the BMI formula.

This is not always practical though, especially you have to calculate the BMI of a lot of kids, like in a nurse's office at school or for a busy Pediatrician.

If you are using pounds and inches for a kid's weight and height, the formula to calculate BMI is:

BMI = [weight / (height x height)] x 703

If you are using the metric system, the formula to calculate BMI is a little different. In this BMI formula, you use kilograms and meters for a child's weight and height:

BMI = [weight / (height x height)]

For adults, once you calculate BMI, it is quite easy to interpret your results, as a BMI in between 25 to 30 is considered overweight and a BMI of 30 and above is considered obese.

Interpreting BMI is a bit more complicated for kids though, because you also have to take into account the child's age to figure out the percentile ranking for that BMI from a Girl's BMI Chart or a Boy's BMI Chart. This BMI percentile can then help you determine if a child is overweight or at a healthy weight.

Do "grow taller" supplements really work?

These ads are so unbelievable that the people who wrote them must be laughing as they steal people's money for their totally worthless products. They tell you that if you take their pills or wear their insoles, you can continue to grow until you are as tall as you like, at any age. If that were true, we would see people who are 15 feet tall and basketball would be an entirely different sport.

They want you to believe that when you eat their special blend of kudzu vine and other rampant-growing plants, you will grow like the vines. Of course this is ridiculous. Kudzu vine grows rapidly because of its genetic structure called DNA, but you cannot absorb DNA from plants or animals that you eat; it is broken down in your stomach and intestines into amino acids, the building blocks of protein.

Or they tell you that their product will stimulate your growth hormones, but even if that were true, once you have gone through puberty, no amount of growth hormone will lengthen your bones. See report #8551 for more about the so-called growth hormone releasers.

Bones do not grow throughout their length. They grow from growth centers, called the epiphysis, near their ends. When a person reaches puberty, growth centers close one after the other until all the growth centers are closed forever and a person's bones can never grow again. After that, a person can grow wider, but not taller. The tragedy is that some people will shell out their hard earned money to someone who is making fun of them. They offer a money-back guarantee, but they know you will probably be too embarrassed to ask for your money back, and many people report that their money is never returned when they request it from these scams.
